Thanks for Asianet to find out singers like Somadas. Somu sings his songs even better than the professional singers in the field. Even without technical trainings his songs sound fabulous. I would rate Somu numbero uno among all his peers.

This is to applaud our very great show 'Asianet's Idea star Singer'. As it appears, it is definitely a well organised event, in all sense. To capture audience as well as to showcase good judgement skills. I feel, it is a well educative program.
Now, it has educated me, to judge also the great fraud visible in the program. Let me highlight the salient points that led me to brainstorm about the fraudulent nature of the program.
1. A lot of SMS are being send for each contestants. These SMS bear a premium charge and the extra amount should be going to the channel. These SMS are sent in a particular contestant's name, but the income generated may not reach the concerned contestant but the ultimate winner only. This is not justifiable. They should reward each contestant according to the number of SMS received by him/her.
2. In a democratic set up one person can cast one vote only. But here a person can cast any number of SMS vote. At least it should be allowed only one SMS per mobile number. But it is not. The aim being to generate as much income as possible.
3. A huge gift is offered by the main sponsor, but only to the top most contestant. It is also being told always that the sponsor is an ardent music lover and wants to promote good singers. As a music lover he should have split the huge amount to reward at least a reasonable number.Still he is rewarding only the top ones. Why? Hearing the huge amount, more and more Good music lovers will be attracted to the show. And where can the huge amount come from? A sponsor, anyway has to spend for advertisements. Now, where is the SMS income going? By the last year's success the organisers could realise that SMS income is huge enough to give such huge rewards.
Now, I cannot accuse the organisers of fraud practise without having a solid physical proof. But the inside details are not exposed so it is difficult to get solid physical proof. What I intend is, each and every SMS voter should think of these aspects and if possible, they should desist from SMS voting for this program. But let us enjoy heartily, the music, the judgements, the splendid shows and dance and the methodology of conducting the program especially in extracting the sentimental weaknesses of audience to support the show.

even i do think that the viewers should stop doing SMS. for getting SMS the channel is doing all sorts of drama and sentiments which reminds me of soap serials..
if its for finding the talent let them do it properly with the judges.
i am a constant viewer of somdas in ISS.. i am too much impressed by his perfomances.. except 1 or 2 all other perfomances of his is memorable.. usually for other contestants i watch the preview and if it is catching i watch the perfomance the next day. but somu's performance i am waiting for it eagerly.

To be an excellent singer a person has to be excelling in all genres of music. So if a person sings one kind of music all the time and not even trying another kind they cannot be the best musician. This show is to find the best singer in all aspects of music. That is why they have different musical rounds to perform. So I hope they find the best singer out of them.

let the best singer wind and i do agree that judgement should made by the judges they are doing a great job and one more request why everybody is speaking in english.how many of the comtestents can understand and reply in english.Lena came and she was speaking in english and why cant renjini speak in malayalam i think its a malayalam channel and i feel sometimes contestants are finding difficult to answer when these people talk in english.
SHOCKING IN-TAKE OF THE CONTESTANT NAMED "VIVEKANAND" !!!!
We are a group ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED after seeing the 9th elimination episode. We are not regular audience of IDEA STAR SINGER 2008-09. But happened to see the contestant named "VIVEKANAND" singing in the 9th stage.
& UNBELIEVABLE to see that contestant marching to the next round - who sang the songs WORST & didnt even complete half of one of the song he sang.
We know the elimination is based on SMS. But, that contestant's in-take surely means there is NO PLACE FOR MUSIC. MUSIC FAILED. & that contestant's star power won.
We are sorry for the rest of the contestants who are trying there maximum sincerely. & we are sorry for the 2 contestants who were eliminated in that stage. One deserve to go to the next round in place of VIVEKANAND.
Surely, VIVEKANAND DOESN'T TO BE IN THE NEXT ROUND.
We think there is no meaning in going on watching this show. Its better seeing some other decent programs.
We dont think this will be happen in any of the reality shows.
Wont be surprised if that contestant wins the mega prize.
& Plzzzz change the anchor of the show. We think the anchor is partial to some of the contestants. The anchor was the one who was most happy when that contestant was in. & didn't find any feelings for the contestant who was out. Every actions of the anchor on the stage looks FUNNY. Plzzzz change the anchor.
We are not blaming any person. But,blaming the format of the show. The format suggests that its not necessary that a good contestant can win the prize as its based on sms.
Last year's IDEA STAR SINGER was SUPERB. That kept very high standards. But,this year's is not at all keeping any standard.
As every channels are focussing on reality shows, try to keep some standards.
& If ASIANET is only targetting business, then surely you are doing a great job.

Dear Mr Vivekanandan, Please note the song, "Varaha Nadikkara ooram" was sung by Mr Somadas in this stage(audition). Normally Ms Ranjini say something about the song. But unfortunately neither the Judges or Ms Ranjini did not mention that this song was previously sung by Mr Somadas. Perhaps, as a responsible person, you could have remembered about this, Ms Ranjini. We should not be jealous of other people's performance.

About the above comment to Vivekanand, it says the song that was sung by Somadas was also sung by Vivekanand. Does the program have any kind of rules that a song cannot be repeated by any other contestants. Also Ranjini and none of the judges at the current panel was there when or if Somadas sung that song. And I dont think Vivekanand sang that song to begin with.

It was indeed very shocking to see Vivekanand being taken in for the tenth round. It is an injustice to the other deserving participants. He should be eliminated at least by this round to make up that mistake. Ranjini need not express her soft corner to any contestant or shed crocodile tears for any. We just crave for some good anchor who talks malayalam and presents herself in the appropriate way. Asianet needs to lend its ears Please change the anchor.......

The comments about Vivekanandan's challenge round by Sharath and Venugopal were very cruel and totally out of place.
It was so obvious that he is not well and is suffering from throat infection. So they could have told that he made some mistakes,
and the quality was not as expected.(He is a very good singer and probably the best in this group, of course Prashobh is also
equally talented.)Instead, in spite of Vivek admitting the problems, Sharath and Venu kept on saying unnecessary comments.
Sharath is always like that, a musician without common sense.But this was not expected from a person like Venu. It is surprising
that Venu don't understand Vivek's problem. May be Venu never had any throat illness!!! Or he could sing well even when he had hoarseness!!!
What else can Vivek do in this situation, when he is sick. He cannot abstain from the session.He participated and performed as much as his health
condition permitted him,expecting to perform in
later rounds (if he can reach there.)
Of course the judges need not give extra marks.The marks given was correct and Vivek didn't seem to have
expected anything better. Trying to tarnish Vivek by such awkward comments appears to be aimed at reducing his popularity
so that somebody else may reach the top.
Deedi said that she liked Vivek's performance verymuch, but she didnot give him good marks because of the comments by
Sharath and Venu.So then why should she be there as a judge, if she cannot make her own independent judgement. If Asianet
allows me, I shall come and sit there as a judge and atleast make independent unbiased judgement.(I know some abcd ...of music)
Now let us see what is happening with Rahul. He changes the tune of music, will not sing difficult lines of the song.( As Venu says
he is a very wise guy..Venu likes him very much)He takes simple songs to impress all.(Even if he makes mistakes that is very simple
to Venu.) Listen the Swathithirunal song sung by Rahul in the friends family round and then listen to the original track. He has changed
the tune so that he can sing easily, made mistakes in so many areas including mistakes in the lyrics, shruthi and skipped most of the
nice nuances .Venu said - "I am sure you will cleanly sing if asked to sing now" then why didn't he ask him to sing there again?
In the previous round he skipped a difficult line, but was ignored by judges(though Sharath mentioned that). Remember the way he
tried to fool Ouseppachen and caught redhanded by Sharath when he sung Deedi's "Palavattom kandathanu ".
When Venu frequently reminds about the huge prize money and makes awkward comments about Vivek and tries to praise
Rahul out of place I have some doubts.

The cnchor is favouring some contestants. This is not acceptable. Prasobh is a good singer, but his sound is not so much appealing. Rahul is clever guy, though his sound is good, he is not good at modern "adipoli songs". Somadas is very very strong in his selective areas with a distintive style and voice. he has problem in singing calssical songs and low pitch songs. Somu is very good in tamil and give life to the songs, which even the professional singer were unable to deliver. Hats of to Somu.

I am a regular viewer of Idea Starsinger. I'm sure Vivek is a talented singer. Unfortunately he has some throat problems.Vivek need rest and try to recover from soon. At the same time more practice is needed for him. We can see Rahul, Gayatri, Somu are able to perform well.Surely they are working hard for this and getting the results also. I'm really appreciating Somadas for his hard work. He has no basic but what a song!! (Not all kind of songs.)Vivek what happened to you? We are waiting to see your evergreen performance, don't foget your obligations to the viewers and also never misuse this wonderful opportunity!! We can forget maximum three times not always!!
I saw some comments against Renjini, how can you say she is supporting some particular contestents? She can't do like that.But she can also realize the efficient singer like us, so she thinks don't spoil his/her future on the spot and giving personal support, that's not a partiality.

I dont think Rengini is favoring any contestants. She had given the script and she is doing a wonderful job. If the people who comments on her can do a better job they should go and anchor and prove the viewers how good they are. How about Deedi talking in all different languages. Nobody have any prblems with her multi language comments. With the contestants they all are good one way or other. The judges only mark the performances as they perform on the stage. They dont look how difficult or easy the song is. I think Prasobh and Vivek is the two contestants who always pick the most difficult song and they both are the best singers.

All the contestants are doing well, some have problems that noone can be blamed for, just unfortunate. Prasobh and Somadas are two who are doing their best at this stage, Somadas having reached this far (with others who have far greater advantages ) is a great achievement. Wish him the very best in this and later too I hope the extraordinary talent will carry him a long way in the field of music. All the best to all who have come this far.
If u'd seen how she was begging for votes for Vivek..and giving way too much support to VIVEK alone.. That was really partiality. She should give support to each and everyone and also.. she talks way too.. much!!
Renjini is doing her job.And that too in an excellent way. She helps everybody. See how she supported Prashob, by singing with him.Then how can some one say that she is favouring Vivek. In fact Vivek is in a crisis. He is one of the best singers in this show. He is unfortunately having an illness and he needs time to recover. This has to be conveyed to the viewers. So its the responsibility of Ranjini to help him. She is doing her job in the most responsible way. Prasobh, Somudas, Sonia and Arya, are all singing very well. Congratulations to all of them. Hope Vivek too will soon recover and as the competition enters the final stage, it will become a competition of high standard. Each one of these young talents have their own strengths and weakness.Somu definitely is the

One important fact I forgot to mention in my previous mail .. the celebrity guest Gouri( Our old Jo mol)was excellent. She always appeared very pleasant, well dressed and her comments were precise and always very encouraging. Her overall performance was so good that any celebrity guest who is invited to Asianet Starsinger can learn how to behave there just by watching her performance.I always liked her acting and now after watching the show my respect towards her is more.No doubt she was one of the best celebrity guest so far.

Is he an Adnan Sami in the making??? well I meant to say he has a bright future. Congratulations Imran. Mr. Sharath could be a little more polite while commenting on Imran's mistakes. Mr. Sharath needs to learn from Mr. Venu quite a lot.
Ranjini is trying desparately to show her little knowledge in English Hindi and Malayalam as an anchor. It's quite a different aspect when it comes to Didi speaking in different languages. Forget all this. A change is inevitable for your show Asianet.
Why should you comment against Renjini? If you think you have the ability to do the same,then go and perform!! Blaming is an easy thing but better reaction too difficult.
Hello dear, Ranjini is a very good anchor and she is the main energetic factor of Idea Star Singer. Some foolish people can't realize that, and they are always try to find out mistakes in each and everyone.This is some malayalees character- not able to accept others efficiency. First try to change own attitude...
I fully agree with your comments about Ranjini.She is a very positive personality. Always pleasant and encouraging, she is so well involved with the participants.She does not have the expression of a star and is very innocent. Her innocence is so often obvious through some of her comments and facial expression.Her general acceptance and popularity is obvious when Asianet decided to call her back to ISS 2008, when they realized that the show is not as popular as ISS 2007 in the beginning. Today Ranjini is one of the backbones of this show.Compare her with all the other anchors in the realty shows including all the other Malayalam channels. Who will stand as a challenge to her? There is no comparison at present.

I really liked to see Jomol on the show.. but she seems very picky in giving marks. Renjini, as an anchor should be impartial. It's obvious that she gives too much support to Vivek than the rest of the contestants. And judges, give soo.. much marks to some contestants..even if they didnt do well. In order for this show, to be reall..they should give marks honestly.. according to each contestant's performance.. not because of favoritism..
Once again we saw the immense support being given to Vivek. It wasn't that good a performance in his ghazal round yet the judges and ofcourse Ranjini without fail seems to be keen on showing their favouritism. May the truth prevail finally.
Once again this commenter seems like has more knoeledge than the person who taught Vivek this ghazal song. Such an irrational and insensitive comment.

We agree with it. Vivek did not perform well in Ghazal. The guest of the show actress suchita addressing sinimol "nee" several times was most indecent. With what authority she could address sinimol like that. Even very senior and expert judges in the show address participants properly. It is better suchita change her style in public, other wise she will face the consequences, how mighty she may be.

It is with great regret we saw the way sinmol was treated in the show by one of our actress. At the same time other judges and renjini were seen trying get right that situation. It is better to tell the code of conduct to the visiting guests before giving their seat in the show. The pubilc will certainly react to Suchita's behaviour at the show. It clearly revealed how rude she is!!!.

ISS 2009 11th round had a mind blowing start today.Vivek's Ghazal round was very good. I expected little more from him.It was obvious that he is yet to recover completely from the throat infection. He is a very capable singer, no doubt.Hope he will come back to his original standard in the coming rounds. Best wishes Vivek. Duet by Sonia and Najim was a real surprise.Wonderful singing by Najim.It was so sweet listening to Najim.....outstanding.Thanks to Asianet for bringing him back at this stage and giving us the great opportunity to listen to him.The most important quality of Najim is that after all this fame and publicity, he still remains the same guy.. as Deedi aptly mentioned "simple and humble". If Najim ever happens to read this .. dear Najim, keep this great quality. That's more worth than money and fame, that quality makes the difference between a brilliant artist and a great artist who is also a wonderful human being. May God bless you and your family.
And Sonia did very well today. She almost equaled Najim during the duet and it was a splendid performance from Sonia. Of course that's what we all expect from her.
Today was not Arya's day, but I am sure she will improve in the coming rounds.
I don't understand why the contestants are singing too many Tamil songs. This is a Malayalam channel show. Probably they are not confident to sing popular Malayalam songs because all "Malayalese" will understand minor mistakes easily!!
Vivek's performance was not outstanding, but was very good. I don't think their was any favouritism at all. See he got only 81 marks. Today Prashobh sang well, again was not outstanding, but was better than that of Vivek and got 85 marks. Then who is showing partiality? Both were given deserving marks.
If all any partiality is shown ( I don't think its partiality, but a minor error of judgement) is that Rahul is managing to get high marks with just average performances. As Venugopal mentioned he sang an ordinary song, without much mistake and got high marks. The way he sang that was pathetic, losing the life of music.If we watch his facial expression and lip movements we may get a feeling that he is shouting a slogan in a "jadha" in the road.
From next round onwards I hope every body will keep silence when Vivek sings. No body should appreciate or talk or even clap their hands, because some of our viewers always complaint of partiality to Vivek.I think that will be the only way to satisfy these "Vivek Virodhees"

She sounds so immature and unpolished. She could have addressed Sini by her name rather than using nee. It sounded odd. Waiting to see this comic and cheap character get off that seat for the celebrity guest
Hi, As a regular viewer of Idea star singer, I like to say my opinion about some above mentioned comments against Vivek's ghazal and comments against Renjini. Really I'm feeling pity of Nazar&teams comments and one anonymous who commented on February 17th. Are you think you people are eligible to perform like vivek, prasobh,arya etc and judge like Venugopal &Sarath? Then no wonder, nobody will watch this programme !! Hello,it is too cheap and nonsense for the unhealthy criticism about these. At the end of the day the good singer/performer will win. It's totally their personal matter. But don't criticise or comments blindly and uncultured way. But most of the malayalees are same in character and attitude they are not able accept others eligibility!! There is a proverb for the same, hope you know that ! !
I have one more doubt, most of the comments are mentioning against Renjini,Sarath & Vivek. When go through these comments, readers can easily asess, these comments are coming from a totally negative attitude person with full of jealous and inefficient!!
Malayalees got 100% literacy,I think that means only they can write!!! some people are not able to think up to the level and not ready to change their attitude. Always behave and comment like some Kerala politicians. Feeling very sympathy...
No one can change this kind of attitude, but frankly saying a clear solution for that " First believe yourself in all sense, then automatically we can see good things in others." Try to accept good always in a better and healthy way and at the same time handle sad situations wisely. Don't hurt anybody simply.
If the singers do good job they will win and will be appreciated. Think again... Judges are not fools...and ofcourse Asianet is one of the best and standard channels in Malayalam..
In future also, I'm expecting same comments.Don't smile I already realize people are different, their attitudes, approach and reactions are also varies from one another. They have to change themselves..
After sll stages good, talented and efficient singer will win, if it 'X or Y'.It's totally up to the singers..

As a celebrity judge, Jomol did an excellent job.. giving good comments&advise to contestants, dressing and talking decently. Most of the celebrity judges.. were really crap!! Especially.. new comers like .. Renjini and some others. It was really nice to see Suchitha on the show. She always make me get confused with Meera Jasmine. But her addressing Sinimol like "nee" was below standard!! Like someone else mentioned, there should be code of conduct for this show. Also, always making Imran aware how big he is?? It's really bad. He already knows that he is big.. and they dont need to keep addressing it every single time.. he's on stage.
I agree with Alan.But I don't agree that the comments made here are in "uncultured way". Let everybody think and express their views. Some of the comments will help us to think in a different angle.
About criticism towards Vivek, we should remeber certain facts.
1) Vivek is probably one of the most technically perfect singer in this show.
2) Apart from Vivek and Prashobh other male singers are far below the finalists of ISS 2008.
3)Vivek was not able to perform well in some of the sessions, and judges pointed out that and gave very low marks - in fact the lowest ever!(Still why so much criticism about favouritism towards Vivek?!!)
4)Vivek is still in the show, because he managed to get very high number of SMS votes.
5) This is because the average Malayali is sensible to understand that the quality of show will be lost, if the best singer in the show is out because he was not able to perform well on a couple of ocassions because of bad health.
This shows the common sense and wisdom of average Malayali - who do not blindly favour anybody who is not deserving, but those with the highest quality is given the support .Hope everybody will agree that even in ISS 2007, the best came to the top positions, Najim first and Durga in second position.Even in other channels, almost always the best were selected when it was through SMS votes. This proves that Malayalese are sensible people.
Hope this sense will prevail till the end of ISS 2008. I also hope Vivek, Prashob, Sonia, Somudas and others will live upto our expectations till the end.
Sonia was outstanding today in her Ghazal round. She sang like a veteran in Ghazal songs , she was able to create the peculiar mood so characteristic of Ghazals. The performance was deservingly rewarded by the judges.
Though Sharath is often criticized for his very open and sometimes harsh comments, we should notice that his absence for a couple of days brought the comments of the judges seem to look too ordinary except for some comments by Venugopal. I wish to thank Asianet for finding out Sharath, because it is his comments which are the most unbiased and technically of highest quality.It gives us the opportunity to understand how to observe the technical details of music.
I am sure so many people are now watching the programme from Vinodasala. Please comment on the performance of the participants and the judges etc through Vinodasala and let us make this more interesting by freely expressing our comments and observations.I am interested to see how others assess the ISS singers.
There are lot of comments on this site on the way Suchitha used 'nee' ninnne.. one should remember she used those only to sinimol because she felt like talking to dearest one. this kind of usage is only used between very close people, not between strangers. so her intention was really good. It should be remembered that the kind of usage in one place , which is considered cultured there, can be cultureless or insulting to people from some other part of kerala.
'appi kalakkiya bonje'' thiruvanathapurathu kar kudikkum becuase it is the lemanade made by dearest one for them. but those in northern or other part of kerala wont even think about it.. so be careful while making negative comments. try to be positive

Really I missed his valuable opinions. Some people are thinking he is a comedian!!After all performances, I used to wait (very curiously)Sarath's comments.What I'm saying is valuable persons are facing too much criticism everywhere.In fact it may be the real appreciation. But unhealthy comments are not worthfull.
Why Vivek is getting appreciation or criticism means, see his performance from the first stage onwards...Last week (again) I watched all performances..Three times or more he was the highest scorer. Suddenly everything changed..It may be his throat problem,lack of hardwork, less interest etc..But it's quite difficult to digest these to the audience easily.So they are reacting different way.At the same time some contestents like Somadas,Soniya,Prasobh etc are working very hardly and getting that kind of result also. It's really appreciable and ofcourse they are eligible for that.Because of their hard work and presentation they can easily catch the audience too. Very sure at the end of the day the real singer and ofcourse the hardworker will win. We can wait till that!

I too wanted to say the same as Vinodasala said about Suchitha. I didn't feel that Suchitha's usage of "nee" meant any indecent manners. she was very affectinate towards Sinimol. And there is a lot of regional differences in such usages.
It was nice to see Renjini pouring out all her love to Roshan. She speaks well for the contestants. Nobody else in this world can do the job she does. hope we get to see her and only her throughout ISS for years to come.
Vivek today performed nicely and I hope this will silence his critics. There are many people who criticize Vivek without really appreciating his talents. Somadas and Imran should have practiced the lyrics better in their Ghazal round. Both of them could have performed better in the Ghazal round. I think both have the talent to sing Ghazals, only problem is that they failed to understand the style of Ghazal singing.

Vivekanand is the best male singer. Prasobh is somewhere near, but his voice is not sweet. If Vivekanand is at his previous best, he is the winner..
Among girls, it is a close call between Sonia and Gayathri...

Somdas is not at all a versatile singer. He is technically bad and the only thing good about him is that his voice carries a lot of emotion. But, during the last round (Gazal) it was so ridiculous watching him act so humble before judges. I strongly feel that a participant should not be encouraged just because he is from a poor background. Same was the case with Sinimol. Her performances were horrible. Yet she was pampered so that Asianet could create a "sahathaapa tharangam". She and Somdas were liabilities to Asianet from the start.
Only Vivekanandan, Prasobh, Rahul, Sonia abd Gayathri will get into the Grand Finale what ever be the SMS status....
Vivek and Gayathri will be winners!
About Renjini:
I hated her initially because of her Manglish. But if you compare the reality show anchors at present in all channels, Renjini is the BEST!
It is just because he is able to involve her in the proceedings and she is adept at handling situations.
I have seen bland anchors in Kairali who are devoid of any expressions.
Its great to see so many comments in this forum. Thanks to all.
Vivek, Prosobh, Sonia and Gayathri are the best as of now. As pointed out, Arya was doing very well earlier, but suddenly in the recent rounds her performances are not up to the mark. May be she has some problems. It should also be remembered that she is very young, she is a +2 student. So considering her performances in the previous rounds she may be able to mark a strong return in to the show. Even if that does not happen, she has a promising future.
Vivek is doing very well now, no doubt. Prashobh also has great talent. I am not so impressed by Rahul's performances so far because he always chose very simple songs and was only trying to impress by a "superficial show" and drama. This may be a good strategy during the early stages of the competition, but its very important to prove the caliber in a talent show like this. He should prove his worth to be a star singer. He has so far never attempted to do that.I don't think that he really deserves the marks he was given in the last 2 or 3 sessions. He knows how to put an eyewash, especially with Venugopal.
Coming to Somadas, he may not be technically so perfect, but the fact that "his voice carries a lot of emotion" is extremely important. Remember, even those who have learned classical music may not able to do that. An artist who can convey the emotions through his performance is a brilliant artist.The point is- Somadas is a gifted natural singer and with little more effort he can become outstanding.
The Ghazal round was disappointing. I think Imaran and Somadas can be better Ghazal singers than seen during their performances. Some final guidance in expressing the emotions and clarity of accent and lyrics would have made a great deal of difference, especially for Somadas and Jins. (Imran probably showed some lack of interest- probably he has given up.)In this regard I think Asianet should have arranged little more guidance to the candidates so that their performances in the final stages would not have appeared so pathetic.An expert giving a general lecture about Ghazal is far from adequate. Some practice sessions for individual candidates especially Jins and Somu was definitely necessary.(Amrita channel used to do this) In the Raga fusion round also its seems that there is no clear cut guidance. Even the Judges seem to be totally confused. Let us hope Asianet will put some serious efforts in improving this.
Finally about Renjini, I think slowly we all are becoming her fans! What a personality she is!! Of course she has a 'manglish accent"must be because of her schooling. But I think she is a role model for all our "modern girls". Instead of blindly copying the western culture, I think she has sensibly acquired some great qualities from the western culture, at the same time maintaining the dignity of a "Malayali 'girl. She is able to present herself as a very simple and innocent person with her plain talks, yet she gives the optimism of a strong positive personality.I hope that is her true nature and that she will continue to inspire all of us. Her performance today with Sharath as singer was indeed splendid. Asianet (and especially Sreekantan Nair)deserves to be congratulated for finding out her and also for bringing her back to ISS 2008.

There is loads of pretty girls in 2007 with highly talented .But unfortunately there is no pretty girls in 2008 . Any way doesn't matter how beautiful is or not . TALENT ! thats important . isn't it ?

Hi, I really agree with achuvettan's comments about Rahul and Somadas. I hope Rahul is a very clever boy and he knows how to get appreciation from the judjes. But he is not capable to get the appreciation from the viewers. I watched all of his performances.Exactly he is very cunning and clever. But we can see, he has the clear aim on Flat for that he is taking effort also. But never taking difficult songs.
I appreciate Somadas. He is very hard working person but some area of songs he is not able to success. But I hope if he get enough practice he'll be better.
Sonia is doing good. Then Vivek.. He is a very talented singer..no doubt at all. But we cannot predit what or how he will do !!!.Surely Vivek is not showing any interest to get Flat...Kind request for you Vivek..If you win or not..do your best and ofcourse you have the ability. Don't misuse this wonderful opportunity and hardly go for that..
Overall, without doubt we can say, ISS 2007 singers were far better than ISS 2008. ISS 2007 singers are really dedicated their effort for show good performance. But in this case some singers have the eye on Flat or gold..Somehow they have to achieve that. But we like to see good attempt.

It is wonderful to see that so many Keralites are watching and enjoying ISS all over the world. The comments by Benoy on behalf of CANADAIAN KERALA CULTURAL ASSOCIATION OF ALBERTA - seems interesting.Is there any bias or partiality apparent in the ISS judgment.May be some disparity in giving marks to certain candidates is apparent. For example today, Gayathri, whose performance in Ghazal round was just average, got higher marks than Vivek, who did extremely well, probably one of the outstanding performances of ISS 2008.I was thinking about the reasons for this. Probably its because one is Ghazal round and the other is Raga fusion round. If we compare Gayathri's marks in Ghazal, we should compare it with the marks others got in Ghazal round.Again there may be some disparity,especially if we consider the marks Sonia got.Any way I think Sharath has always tried to be impartial and seems reasonable.
But I am really sorry about Imran. He is a candidate about whom I had great expectations after hearing his "Khuda Se Mannat Hai" in the early stage. However he did not show any significant improvement from that.He is a wonderful singer like Somadas who can give a lot of "feel" and emotions to the song. But the quality of singing in the later stages was not upto the expectations - I must say.
Comparing ISS 2007 and ISS 2008 is difficult. I too feel ISS 2007 was better. There were a lot of good singers in ISS 2007.Najim, Durga and Amrutha were the best among thos in ISS 2007. In 2008, Vivek, Prasobh and Sonia are also almost equally talented. There may be two reasons for the general feeling that ISS 2007 was better. First, ISS 2007 being the first of that quality we all enjoyed it very well,being a new show.Repetition probably made it less interesting.
Second reason, most of the candidates in ISS 2008 had health problems during the late stages.May be mental stress also have contributed. So there was a dip in the performance of almost all candidates. We have seen Imran, Jins, Prasobh, Vivek, Gayathri, Arya... all singing on the stage when they had fever or throat infections. Obviously they were not getting adequate rest and this has affected their performance and the general standard of the show in the later stages. And the judges appeared to be showing partiality at least on some occasions, this will also affect the interest of the viewers negatively.

You know, myself and few friends used to watch these shows in Vinodasala.We are living in Canada so unable to watch all programmes at the right time. Sometimes we used to record some good programmes and will in watch our free time. But this show,somehow we will try to watch from our office itself in our break time.

One small request to the judges, I think you can give atleast 87 marks to Vivek. May be you are right. But we wish like that.

For the first time Rahul sang a song reasonably well in the Ghazal round. I liked it very much.But I felt that it was a relatively simple song, the most simple of all the Ghazals sung so far in this round. And it was very short too. Then during the comments by the judges, Deedi revealed the secret.Here again Rahul was trying to fool the audience by skipping some lines. Remember he has done this several times so far."CONGRATULATIONS DEEDI" for bringing out Rahul's attempt to cheat all of us again. When Deedi asked him 'Why didn't you sing three Andharas?' Wow!! Rahul's face become papery white. Obviously he never thought somebody will find this out. The explanation was very funny- he said "like... it was my decision that I will sing only 'pallavi, anupallavi and charanam'..." And he cut short the original Ghazal by Hariharan and sung only three fourth of it! What ever he sung he did well,no doubt. I really wonder why Venugopal was not able to identify this.He mentioned that he got the original Ghazal by Hariharan from Asianet in advance. That means he was familiar with the original ghazal, still he did not mention this.He was praising Rahul so much as usual. This is a very sad situation in ISS 2008, that some judges seems to favour a particular candidate.And it is most obvious with Venugopal and Rahul.I appreciate the way Rahul performed in the Ghazal round.But trying to fool the audience by skipping some portions of the song is not fair.Cheating is unpardonable. No body should try to be over smart.And this is not the first time Rahul is doing this.

Vivek's performance was superb. But the judges obviously didnt give the marks for his performance. They are being partial with there grading system. I wonder if they read these comments. All the three judges give the same marks after their boost up comments. Is this show real.......

Today in Asianet I watched Nammal Thammil with ISS 2007 and 2008 singers. Good show.. Vivek sang the "Mappilapattu" which he could not sing earlier. (Because of "drishtidosham!" or "koodothram" by somebody else!)Please watch it if you haven't seen in the repeat show. Second part will be telecasted next Saturday.Vivek sang very well. I think Asianet needs to consider these comments, moreover these decisions are coming from viewers heart. We are taking our time to watch this programme and express our valuable opinion very frankly. We are not arguing our opinions are 100% relevant, but you can consider our suggestions. Without critics how it'll go? It will not be interesting yaaa....Really we are the main factors and should think of our comments also.

The Nammal Thammil with ISS 2007 and ISS 2008 programme was very interesting. It shows how friendly most of the contestants are.The story by Imran about Nikhil was fun. It is really wonderful to see Imran like this, he seems to be naughty and witty.He is a wonderfully jovial person. Some of them did not get enough time to talk eg,Somadas. Hope we will be able to see them in the second part.I thought Vivek is still having some voice problems. He said he was advised voice rest by the doctors. Some hoarseness was obvious here also. He seems to be performing too many stage programmes now a days. That could be one reason why he is not able to recover fast.
Some body mentioned about Drishti...probably because Deedi too mentioned it. Vivek is still not able to explain what happened to him.I think this happens to all of us, some time in our life, especially when we are under stress,not able to sleep properly and also some times after viral fever.I remember, once I had an accident while driving, it was my mistake.But still I don't know why it happened. What I can remember is that I had a totally blank mind for few seconds.I was not able to take a decision to apply the brake... I was sure my car is going to hit the car in front .. still I did not react. If somebody asks me why didn't I apply the brake - well, still I don't have an answer.I have also noted that sometimes we have a negative attitude for some period of time.It may last for several days.Could be a feeling of depression or lack of confidence.As if we have lost the ability and courage. This again occurs when we are physically and mentally exhausted.I think Vivek was passing through a similar phase.So he appeared cool on stage without much reaction, as if not affected at all.(as Srikantan Nair mentioned... Gayathri could at least react to the situation by crying.)Those who had similar experiences in life will be able to understand the situation, others will no be able to realize. Don't think these are "Drishti" or other things.

I liked ISS 2007. almost all contestants were very talented in ISS 2007. top ten singers were also highly talented. Durga Viswanath and Najim are the best in ISS 2007.
In ISS 2008, almost all contestants are very average except Vivekandan, Prashobh ....

MALE SINGERS IN STAR SINGER
As noted earlier, Rahul is a clever contestant. He easily beguiles the judges. I think he'll surely grab one of the top 2 positions. In the nammal thammil show, he was asked if he felt happy when Vivekanandan could not sing. He replied that he doesn't want to win "at anyone's cause". Very diplomatic guy!!!
Though Prasobh is very talented, his voice is thin and hence he is not that good when he sings low notes. This may be because he is very young. Anyway he is not a complete singer.
Vivekanandan is clearly the most talented and gifted male singer in ISS. But nowadays he cannot match the standards set by himself. Wish him all the best to be himself and win the ultimate prize!!!

The show became more of fun in degrading good contestant like vivek and promoting half singer like rahul. The faith on the judges have gone and better a change in panel is inevitable.
Regarding Swastika's comment: Vivek was talking in Nammal Thammil that he is number one now!! Eversince, his throat incident, i've only seen in 3rd or 4th position.

Hi, I just watch Nammal Thammil show about singers. I hope this will help to remove the bad impression of Vivek. I really like his frankness. Mr. Sreekandan Nair said the truth.Viewers wanted to see his sadness or crying face in that situation. You know some worthless malayalam serials are very popular because of the main characters are always in pathetic situation and they are playing as helpless. So audience take that in thier heart and crying with them.That is serial. But what happened in Vivek is real!!He is quite bold and able to survive the situation and at the same time he tried to make his parents calm.
Really I like to appreciate Vivek and my heartful wishes and prayers to him for his future success. No doubt, he will be the top 1. But I felt the throat problem from his voice. Vivek, you should take rest and try to take this as a challenge.Don't worry, our sincere support is with you and god is great. Be confident.
Did you notice Mr.Sreekandan Nair asked few questions to Rahul?Actually that's the question from viewers. If anything comes negative in Vivek, it'll be an achievement for Rahul. Imran did not prepare and he got only 60 marks. He forgot the lyrics. His performance cannot be justified as he is taking the competition lightly. He deserves to be out.
I agree with the opinion of Alan & Achuvettan. Rahul used to skip the part that is not comfortable for him. He is not ready to take the challenge that other singers are taking. He accepted that to. HE said in one stage that competition is tight only choose the comfortable songs. That is true but skipping the difficult part in a song is not acceptable.I also feel that judges are especially Venugopal supporting Rahul too much. It is sad that there are using different scales for each contestant. Vivek's Raga fusion round was excellent but compare with other his mark is not that good.

Hi I saw Nammal Thammil show. Vivek did not say any time that he came in the first place. He said he came to the top. That doesnt mean that he is in the first place. Some people are smart-aleck that they jump the gun.
Dear Vinodasala... I just watch todays Rahul's performance and checked total marks also. I have a doubt about Rahul's Total marks.His actual marks is like this..Raaga based- 81, Gazal-87, Ilayaraja- 82 and Duet- 81.Total=331.But you mentioned in the total marks as 332. Please correct it. See, that one mark is valuable for the other contestents. Thank you

Then, why did the judges give 80+ to Rahul. I think it is not fair to promote a half singer who is not ready to take challenges. Venugopal is simply promoting Rahul.
The ISS Judges seems to be very much worried about the influence of sms votes over their verdict. They want to keep their favorite contestants in the top list.Flourishing praise on Rahul even for an ordinary performance is an example.(The other day Venu was saying Rahul learns quickly, that is his greatness.)He is desperately trying to bring Rahul ahead of Prasobh and Somadas. They are now too critical towards the most popular singers like Somadas. Jins and Imran were also subjected to some harrassment. This could be one of the reasons for Imran's lack of interest. Imran's attitude in the raga fusion round was totally disappointing, but the comments of Venu exceeded the limits. He should have remembered this is viewed by so many people across the world. To scold a candidate who was a star till yesterday,to this extend and tarnishing his image like this was shocking.I am not justifying Imran.But I don't think that, being a judge gives the right to ridicule a candidate like this in front of millions of viewers. I appreciate Imran for gracefully accepting the comments and admitting the mistake.I am sure he will not be there in the next round. I sincerely pray for him and hope that the cruel words of Venu and Sarath will not adversely affect his potential bright future as a good singer.
Personally I feel that the Judge's (especially Venugopal's)contribution is high in making the final stages of ISS 2008 less interesting.(compared to 2007)
Rahul is not a "half singer"! In every way Rahul is better than Vivekanand.He has better voice control and voice quality compared to Vivekanand. You may remember an episode when Rahul and Vivek sang together and Rahul got better marks than Vivek. Vivek is very much frightened after he forgot the lyrics and made a farcical show last time. He cannot win the title. Only Rahul has the ability. Moreover, he is improving day by day.

Hi anonymous.. Very funny comment about Rahul. We are not saying Rahul is not a good singer and at the same time we never feel he is an extra talented singer.You don't praise much about his voice quality!He may be not able to accept that.
If other singers also take simple and very selected songs they will also get better voice control and voice quality.Actually these singers need to prove they are well efficient in music. All are coming to the stage, simply singing and judges giving marks ..then who is going to watch this. No worth at all. They should be able to face challenges & difficulties in their field. Without risk, bathroom singers can also win.
If he get flat or not it's depends his luck.We cannot do anything there. Only we can express feelings..
I fully agree with Alan.Almost every body feel the same. As Alan said, I too feel that some of Rahul's relatives or close friends are trying to compare Rahul and Vivek. Its a fact that Vivek had some problems in between. But its clear that he has overcome that. There is no point in comparing Rahul and Vivek. Clearly Vivek and Prashobh are far ahead of Rahul. All these comments doesn't mean that Rahul is a bad singer.He too has his positive features.But the way he tried to impress all by selecting simple songs and skipping difficult parts of the songs have clearly brought his status down. Again to the anonymous..Rahul dont sing songs half as hard as Vivek. I have always noticed Vivek selects the hardest songs but Rahul only picks the songs that he can manage to sing. Some how judges dont care about the hardness in the songs when they grade them. They give high marks to who ever they like. Especially Somu's recent song with star singer 2007 was not great at all, but judges didnt point out the mistakes and they gave marks which were not appropriate.

You were very aware to complete the song in your own way.The important thing we realized, you are able to understand your limits and skills too. Any competition is about being smart and winning. slow and steady wins the race.Vivek recently started to take simpler songs and ranjini rightly said "play SMART"...any game, or show or film.. the success is when you plan and act smart and play strategic.there are quite a few average films which has become a HIT like that. ISS is a competition and competitors has to be wise and inteligent,not 'dumbos' who try to sing what they cant.Who can dare to bet that all the play back singers in Kerala and India can sing all type of songs.So I feel Rahul is the wisest, inteligent and smart guy in this ISS. Secondly,Please you realize this is not a show/competetion between Rahul and Vivekanand. Total nine contestents are there.Moreover, the aim of the show is find out the good singers..please understand this is not a show for choose the wisest and intelligent person.So exactly they try to sing "what they can't" and ofcourse playback singers are not the subject here. If they get a chance to participate in this show, surely they will be forced to go through these stages.At present nobody offer Flat or gold to the plaback singers.
What you think,confident group is simply giving flat to everyone without effort? If they want to win need full dedication and show their full effort and talent.

Anyway he did not deserve the 85 marks he got today. When he deserved it for raga fusion and gazals, the judges never gave him the marks.
Today's performances were good except Gayathri. I think is the worst performance by Gayathri.I feel sorry for her. It didn't feel like it is her voice.Hope she will be fine in the coming stages. Jins performance is very good. Vivek and Tinu did a good job. Vivek sounds good today. Happy to see him in this style. Good luck for all the contestant for the next stage.

The 11th round is over.As expected Vivekanandan is the topper among male contestants and Soniya among females.I was so sad to see the raga fusion round of Gayathri. She is a very good singer, but due to her throat problems she could not sing well. But her attempt was excellent. And the judge's comments and marks also were fair.
Its clear to every body that Somadas and Imran did not have any classical music training. Naturally they were not able to excel in the Raga fusion round.The reasons are clear.The judges could have made decent comments, like that made after Gayathri's raga fusion.But their comments on Imran and Somadas were astonishing and highly condemnable.I firmly believe that the stress caused by the senseless comments of the judges is the main reason for the declining standards of the performance by these contestants in this stage.
Yesterday Jins sang very well. That was one of the best from Jins..Congrats.. keep it up Jins.
I agree with you Suma -"ISS competitors has to be wise and intelligent".But how did you come to the conclusion that -"Rahul is the wisest, inteligent and smart guy in this ISS"?Selecting very simple songs and trying to get good marks is a wise strategy, no doubt.But skipping difficult portions is not clever strategy. that is cowardly act to cheat the viwers.And when the judges (especially Venugopal 'Sir') who are supposed to bring this to light,not only hide this but praise him and give extraordinary marks,we feel dejected.Thus the show become less interesting to the contestants as well as to the viewers.That is exactly what is happening now.
Prasobh and Vivek have already proved their capability and did very well in almost all sessions,except when they had genuine health problems.Prasobh took a very difficult song in the challenge round (10th stage- Sudhamanthram by Sharath). Really difficult song - and he proved his caliber, was able to impress the judges as well as the viewers and got 89 marks.In the same round he got 86 for AR Rahman hits(Satrangi re.)Let me remind you, he didn't skip difficult areas in any of these.And I hope there is no need to say anything about Vivek's excellent performances so far,except when he had the problem.

Hi, I think the reason why Arya got low grades among female is that she is in + two and I believe her exams are going on. Probably she dont have the time to practice songs.
Achuvettan, you are right on the dot regarding judges comments towards Imran's performance! Just because, he laughs it off.. when everyone keep on telling him.. how big he is.. still he's always smiling but the recent rounds were really sloppy. Judges shouldn't go overboard with all those comments regarding Imran's performance. They can do that privately.. without showing viewers all over the world!! They didnt do that with Vivek.. except for that **big drama**.. Judges/anchor should treat each contestant equally.. I really hope and pray that Imran will become a well-known singer...even if he is out or in.

I feel Rahul as a cunning guy with average skill and strong knowledge about himself and music. Vivekanand as a decent guy with great skill and great humility. Jins as a good singer with poor backgrounds and so he cant even beleive he is here in 11th stage and so he feels very happy even if he is out at this point.somu with great skill poor knowledge and facilities . but unlike jins he has that fire within him to take atry. Imran who is not serious about life, music("jeevanil kothiyillatha oruthan"). otherwise he must have taken care of his health.(in GRIHAPRAVESHAM his umma said he eats frm outside finishing food made by her).Prasobh with high skill, hardwork, and not bothered abt the prize just about performance is an excellent singer.

But I would like to point out that Imran's obesity is not simply because he eats a lot.It's a disease and there will be a lot of abnormal hormone levels and digestive enzymes,causing uncontrollable appetite and weight gain.He has to get medical treatment. Voluntary effort alone will not help.
Even though we used to watch Idea Star Singer 2008,we didn't read Vinodasala comments before. We are studying in UK and try to find out time to watch this show.
Our favourite male contestents are Vivek and Prasobh.Female contestent is Soniya. Vivek you have lots of fans here too.You are a stylish singer with powerfull voice. It is very interesting see each episode of the show and it is very nice to see vivek once again in the top spot. I dont think the sms has any role in deciding the position of the contestant in the competion apart from the revenue to asianet. In all rounds low scoring contestants are eliminated except vivek's incident. None of the time the sms position is mentioned. Rahul is the lowest is gaining sms but successfully advancing into next stages along with "Venugopal". One request to rahul, pl shut off the mouths of ur critics with a challenging & popular song in full, not salim kumar's full.
However the show becoming intersting with not only good show by contestants but also with ugly face of partalility of judges

You said you didn't see the previous episodes of idea star singer 2008. That's the only reason you commented about Rahul like that, and you felt all are commenting against him! That's why you supported him. You have to realize, without proper reason even I cannot make positive or negative comments.
As a regular viewer we can understand what's happening. You can see lots of comments here and some comments like Achuvettan, Sumi etc.. are very valuable also.

I like to write a few words about Suma's comments against Alan.Suma it's not necessary to take these very seriously, and you said what you did.Without proper information or judgement, suddenly how can you take one contestent in to the heaven? You praised Rahul without limits.Remember, nobody said he is not a good singer, but compare to Prasobh and Vivek he is not eligible to come to the top level.
Even now, we are having same opinion. Alan replied virtually. We can feel sympathy to anyone but don't comment blindly.
So in future, you watch ISS 2008 and analyse the performance.

pls do not critisize somu. As venu correctly said he is "uncut diamond". somu may be able to sing classical songs well once he gets classical training. None of his frineds will be able to sing somus type of songs even to 70% of his perfection. its a fact that somus songs appear to be even better than the songs in the films.
In canada some people are making big money selling tamil songs CD's of somu among the sreelankan tamils.

Everything was as expected in the elimination round.The late response of Imran was very touching. Hope he will work hard in future and utilize the lessons he learnt from ISS.As Sumi mentioned,I hope he will take life more seriously.
I am very sorry to hear that Gayathri has vocal nodule.Its otherwise called 'singer's nodule' and can occur to anybody who overuse the vocal cord.To get relief she will need voice rest.I don't know whether she will be able to show her best performances in the forthcoming sessions.

I was even reminded about an article about Sachin Tendulkar.In the match against Aussies at Sharjah, in the Semifinal, while all others were thinking about achieving the target to reach the final, Sachin's intention was to win the match, nothing short of that. That should be the attitude of a Winner, and I know you also intended more or less the same.

What I have to say about Rahul? Because when I watch his performance & song,different type of feelings passed on my mind. This time also he didn't change our expection about his song selection and I felt he can act as a jocker too.
The thing I noticed in him is he has a clear aim, for that he is ready toface all challenges .That's appreciable.At present his target is Villa only. I think he's eating, drinking, singing & sleeping everything for Villa only. That much dedication he is giving for that. If we check his Ist stage onwards, we can see at present how much he changed!!That attitude is good, but somehow he is trying to achieve it that's not impressed.
I hope this is the time to rethink of other contestents, (especially Vivek) about their song selection, the way of presentation, overall how much dedication they can give for this particular aim.Even now also I'm unsatisfied with Vivek. The reason is, if he is physically & mentally fit,he can create this as 'own stages'. That much talent he is having. I never think he is dedicating himself for the music.If he concentrate only in his best music, the better result will not away from him.
Today I read some comments in other column (comment about Nammal Thammil). One person mentioned about Vivek like this..When others are feeling tension and sad of him, Vivek is smiling on the stage.That's the reason others got impression of Vivek if anything happens it's not affecting him.It may be his attitude. But Vivek please be very serious in this competetion.Renjini used to remind you this.

Now a days I'm feeling very pity when I watch ISS 2008. Only one extra ordinary and well known judge is Mr.Sarath.
Some celebrity guests are coming without proper knowledge in music. Actually they don't need to say anything about the technical side of the song.We are not expecting any comments from them. Simply giving marks for some contestents. I heard the original of which Rahul performed on that day.(Sabarimalayil) Viewers can't say it was Superb. Everything is his luck. We have some ideas of this ISS 2008.I'm sure at the end of the day it'll come true.Let us watch..
I am absolutely agree with you achuvettan, Rahul is very cunning . Vivek's performance was outstanding.I like to see vivek,prasob,sonia and gayathri in the final.

Yes, that's exactly what I think, Alan.The song 'Sabarimalayil thanka sooryodayam' is a very familiar one for me too.I was not at all impressed by the way Rahul sang it.The only positive thing about Rahul was his voice. Sharath gave him 18 marks. Yesterday, Arya also selected a very good, very popular song 'Thedivarum kannukalil'.She sang it well except for some 'sruthi'problems as mentioned by Sharath.Arya also was given 18 marks by Sharath. Now see the marks given by Sheela. She gave Arya who sang with much better expression and feel than Rahul 20 marks only, where as she gave Rahul 24 marks.(extraordinary??!!)And Venugopal and Deedi gave him 20 marks each.Whether Sheela was instructed to give that marks by Asianet(as they can't do that with Sharath) or she did it herself is not clear.Any way the criteria for marks given to Rahul in all rounds appears so different from that for others.And Rahul proved that he is an ordinary contestant who cannot even sing such a relatively simple song really well.And he still remains here because of the ridiculous attitude of Venugopal and Deedi 9 and probably Asianet)Sharath is the only judge who has the ability to make consistent and convincing assessment. As Alan said lets's wait and see the final drama.
Hi I was not able to see Rahul's performance before and I thought why everybody is talking bad about him. I also thought why everybody is pointing at Rahul which is not fare. But today I saw his peformance and it was not that great for a celebrity guest to give 24 points. He really messed it up in the begining. May be she gave the marks because it was a beautiful song about the God'Ayappan' not for his singing.
this link was appearing for some days and i was suffocating bcause i couldnt say anyone abt sheelas marks for rahul...
but rahul did a small mistake .he flattered sheela after her comments so she said only normal comments for him. with others she said extra ordinary comments and normal marks .for rahul normal comments startling marks ..even rahul was stunned...
when salimkumar came as celebrity judge i felt really bad with asianet for bringing him for a comedy show not for judgement but he was faaaaaaaaar more better than sheela.
rahul u always says when ranjini asks why did u select this song that this is -th stage and the competetion is getting tough and i need to get some marks ...why cant u sing even one song which has some challenge or of your favourite...please v want to c such performance without any thought of reward...

After seeing Arya's performance yesterday in the remix round and then the judge's comments, I felt extremely sad. More than what I felt about Imran. Arya did her job reasonably well. Still the judges were trying to rip her apart with their cruel comments.Why did they do that? They did not like the way the song was remixed by some body called "Smitha". Poor Arya ! What can she do! It's not her fault.Venugopal "sir" was at least kind enough to repeatedly tell that it's not Arya's fault. And somebody like Deedi, who is probably one who has popularized remix in India and who had been singing remix only during most of her career was saying " I fully agree with them '!!! What a joke!!
And finally Arya said, while requesting for SMS votes, that she really does not understand why she is getting such low marks.The viewers of ISS also do not.
I congratulate Arya for boldly saying this openly.( Can be heard only in the live show, not from the link in Vinodasala)Obviously she is not convinced that she is getting low marks because of her faults.Means, judges were not able to convincingly clarify what were the defects and there is no uniformity in their criteria for awarding the marks. We viewers were also feeling the same thing.
Arya is a smart girl who is gifted with great talents. She is very young, a plus two student. That means she has a great career ahead. It is clear that she will not be there in the next round. Let us hope that the un-called for and contaminative comments of the ISS judges will not destroy her future prospects as a brilliant artist.
We are so sad of Arya.Without her mistake she's in trouble and ofcourse she did a good performance.Hope all viewers can understand what was happen.

I feel so irritated by sharath's comments and the stinginess that he is showing in giving marks. This totally reflects his attitude towards others. However "great " a musician he is, he should be atleast polished in his remarks. By being so rude and stingy he is trying to show that he is a 'legend' of all times. Its horrible to hear him sing.
Prasobh your filmy classical round was excellent. It's a very difficult song, I hope you didn't get the deserved marks for that. I think it's quite better to be selective in songs and it may be help you. See, the same round how cunning Rahul is going to perform!!
ISS 2008 is not the end of your life.But this is a great door of your future.You are too young and will get the chances for a long journey in your music.Don't worry..

I do agree with Achuvettan's comments regarding Arya!! I've been a regular viewer of ISS 2008 and saw Arya doing really well but now she is getting very low marks. Somu is a good singer but now... i feel that he's given more marks than he deserve. Didi..usually sings remix songs mostly and she cant judge Arya! I hope Arya's musical career wont ruined because of this judges degrading comments. Because, ISS 2008 is just a platform and she goes further!!!

Hi.. Idea star singer 2008 is going to be a very tough competetion. All contestents are working very hard and having the competetive spirit between each other. Actually it's very interest to see now. Last year we were able to predict Najim's victory very easily.But this year it's not easy to predict like that.As consider the present situation and talent base Vivek should come as the first/best male singer and as usual Sonia should be the best Female singer. But we cannot finalize this. It's totally depends up on their luck.There is a possibility for Gayathri too. But for best male singer.. viewers don't need any confusion. Without doubt we can say that is the only one person... our Vivek.Vivek our heartfull prayers and sincere wishes to you always. Take care of your health..just concentrate only on your music...work hard....acheive the aim carefully.Be confident.

I feel that irrespective of prashob's performance and receiving good comments from judges, he gets only moderate marks. i feel there is some amount of unfairness either it could be that he is receiving less SMS which is the main source of revenue for this show.

Rimi you are very funny.Very nice to hear from you always and gave very good support to Vivek. I heard that song and Rimi's comments three times.I felt Vivek controlled his smile while singing.(when he looks to Rimi's face) Vivek you are an excellent singer. Keep it up. But I like to say Vivek is able to perform better than yesterday.

Here I have a doubt, when Arya's Remix round, she faced few problems without her mistake. Her performance and song was good. The same thing happened today's Gayathri's performance in the remix round. Mr.Venugopal clearly mentioned that. Arya got 78 marks for that and today Gayathri got 85 marks.We agree both are good singers. But see the mark variation!! Feel pity Arya.Anyway you have a bright future.

In star singer i like the voice quality of Vivek,performance and confidence of somu from the girls side arya.Regarding arya she is a talented singer but some times what i seen is judges are trying to spoil her confidence.If Gayathri or sonia made mistakes they are just ignoring and giving good marks.In the case of arya they are giving hard time for her.I thing they dont wanna see her on finals.Thanks..

I dont think there is a tight competition between Arya and Gayathri in this round. As you can see there is a difference of 10 marks between them. Sooo....
We also watch ISS 2008 regularly. We enjoy listening to good music. But Rahul could never impress us with his singing style and voice! Sometimes we doubt our hearing ability when we hear the judges praising about his voice quality! Above all, he is only targeting good marks always, not good music.
We don't want any more singer like Biju narayanan,Madu Balakrishnan, MG...ext.....They are still alive.
We need new voice new style new feel. Mr Somadas is a gifted artist,He have little lack of confidence for singing Classical songs but he is not bad he can improve it. He is able to sing classical Mr.Venu noted that,see 12years classical learned people can't reach somus area like "Thaniye, urukethe,rappadi,varaha...."
So please consider him.according to me Vivekanandan not a exelent singer..voice not sweet not able to transfer felings..rahul littlt better.. prosob not comentable...Gins should develop his own style voice like MG its ok but why he adapt his style its not good.feemale singers ..I did not like rated them because

So after the final is over if there is no point in giving award to good singers because we have other good singers alive, let us decide to give the award to the person who was out for the first time in the first round. The singers in idea star singer are of different caliber. Vivekanand is very good in classicals and somu is very good in Tamil folk and adipoli songs. Jins is good for melodies. Each one is very good in his area. I do not know wat the judjes are going to find out? Are they trying to find out a "jack of all trades" and not master of none. For eg. some of songs sung by somu are even better than in the original movies, but at the same time judjes are asking somu to learn classicals. Of course, lerning is a good thing. But nobody can master in all areas of music. Let each one specilise according to their tastes.

Hi...first of all thanks to vinodasala for giving us an opportunity to watch ISS 2008 as we r in UK.We egerly wait everyday for u to upload the episodes....about the contestants we feel that vivek is the best and he has the potential.soniya is best with her innocent voice..prasobh good worker,jins a good singer with his ever smiling face,somu...the best singer within his limitations,sings from soul...gayathri....shud work hard and rahul,good voice but we feel that he doesnt have the guts to face challenge.....

Let me make it clear it was not my intent to trash anyone but there should be some logics and stipulation for a reality show like ISS. If the viewers can recall the audition and early rounds, the so called 'Judges' kept beating the same old drum 'If u don't know classical music, this is not 4 u' and with that yard stick they threw very good singers down the road. Double standards are not tolerable and thats the the rule at ISS
There r so many instances where its very clear and predictable the way the 'Judges' have opined.
Consider Arya's and Gayatri's remix rounds. Both were booted 4 their choice of song saying its far from original. Yet see the marks its a ocean of diff.
The great "R" oh my god if some one alive on earth deserves a best actress award it should go to her. Look i am going exactly the way it was presented. In Arya's elimination she made it clear that u sing ur guts out but 'SMS' prevails. So what r the judges putting points 4? A bunch of goons out there uh? Ok then make it a pure 'SMS' show no one will complaint. Asianet is basically cashing in on the max avaliable 'SMS' they could muster before they culd throw 'Mr.SMS' out.
Well the facial expressions and reactions of the contestants at this elimination was worth watching.
It is not as shameful as posting ridiculous comments anonymously! If you don't like it why do you care to visit a page related to ISS and post your comments here. Nobody can deny that ISS is the best musical reality show in Malayalam. People watch this mainly for listening to good contestants.

For your information, let me explain.The judges give marks for each performance and also explain what are the defects during each performance. SMS is to select the most popular singer.(and more importantly to generate income for the producer, as in any other TV show inviting SMS from the viewers)
SMS is sent by viewers who are sensible enough to identify good singers.Many of these contestants have already sang with famous composers even in movies and many of them have their music albums also.

They should have let Gayathri leave, instead of Arya.. (I guess, it wont happen since she seems to be Renjini/Venu's favorite). If Arya's marks were low.. why didnt Renjini ask for SMS for Arya.. like she did for Vivek. It says that there's soo.. many games being played behind the scenes and CHEATING viewers like us!! You could plainly see that during Vivek's controversial elimination.. I never seen Arya making any excuses.. as much as Gayathri.. She's always having throat problems!! I really want Sonia to win!! ISS is really a good show, i personally watch the show every day,,,and we discuss about this show at home....but as a viewer i just can't be blind in what happening on this show ....Arya was a good singer with great talents, and more marks than somu, am sure one day somu will be out that every one know....why did they kept somu...its only to get sms....So nothing much going to benefit to somu...The other thing I found was our Regini's role...Doky Doky...regini...u are a best actoress ohh..sorry Actor...u might not get a role in mallu fillms...but u have chance in Telugu...only they will accept u...Why did she cry for vivek.?...am not going to say anything about vivek, i know alen fredy will respond...by watching the programme i thought only regini got a treat from vivek,,,but reading all the comments i think even alen too got the treat from him...now judges are trying to reduce marks for prashob and rahul.....Anyway all the best to all....

Like you, I enjoy music without limits and "try" to sing in our malayalee samajam programms in Canada. But I'm not a talented singer,(not a good singer too)and really mad of good singers and songs.

Like Alan and others am also a big fan of vivek, ..from the audition round. No doubt he is the no 1 singer in the Idea star singer 2008, I dont know he get villa or not, but vivek we all love you. And about renjini cried...the asianet wanted to show that to everybody , otherwise they could edit it, It is not a live programme. All of them are good singers they have their own good and bad. somadas political song was fantastic with very good feel.....but we really cant believe the marks which judges awarded him.....he deserves much better marks....we feel that he was the best in this round among others who sung till date.....jins was also good....we feel as if the judgements are preplanned....arya would have been a better contestant than gayathri....all the best vivek....you hav potential....try your level best...you will reach the top.....lets wait and see......
